Cats

Feline neuter

A short procedure with a fast recovery. Neutering reduces spraying, roaming, and fighting, and removes the risk of testicular cancer.

Who qualifies

Cats must be at least 12 weeks old and weigh at least 3 pounds. We cannot perform surgery on cats with a history of heart murmur or seizures.

Cryptorchid patients

If a testicle has not descended, expect $15 to $100 extra per retained testicle. The surgery takes longer and may require an abdominal approach.

Worth adding at the same visit

  • Rabies, FVRCP, or FeLV vaccines at $30 each when given with surgery.
  • A PetLink microchip with lifetime registration for $25.
  • A FeLV/FIV combo test for $45, recommended for every cat in a multi-cat home.

Brachycephalic breeds

Persians, Scottish Folds, and similar breeds carry higher anesthetic risk. We may ask for a high-risk waiver and require an IV catheter with fluids for an additional $45.

After surgery

Keep him indoors and quiet for 10 to 14 days, use paper litter for about a week, and keep the site dry. See the aftercare page for the full instructions.
