Dental care

During a dental prophylaxis we remove plaque and tartar and assess the health of the whole mouth — teeth, gums, tongue, and lips. Our pricing is all-inclusive rather than itemized after the fact.

What's included

  • Comprehensive chemistry and CBC bloodwork
  • IV catheter with IV fluids and sedation
  • Dental x-rays as needed
  • Extractions as needed, including full mouth if necessary
  • Scaling and polishing of all remaining teeth
  • Medication sent home as needed

Additional procedures such as gingivectomy carry extra charges. We do not offer dentals when the owner will not allow extractions — leaving diseased teeth in place is painful for the patient.

Deposit and scheduling

A $100 deposit per pet is required to book a dental. It applies to the cost of the procedure. If you cancel within two business days of the appointment, the deposit is forfeit.

Heart murmurs and seizures

We can usually offer dentals to dogs with lower grade heart murmurs for an additional $50 covering use of the Cardell monitor. Cats with heart murmurs are not eligible. Some of our doctors decline dentals for any patient with a murmur history, so please tell the front desk when you call.

We do not offer services to pets with a history of seizures.

Larger dogs

Dogs 50 pounds and over require a pre-dental exam appointment before we can schedule the procedure.

Baby teeth

In small breeds especially, adult teeth sometimes fail to push out the deciduous teeth, which can lead to dental disease. With veterinarian approval we can remove baby teeth alongside a spay or neuter for about $150 including x-rays, or as a standalone appointment for $250, as long as the pet is under one year old and the adult teeth are erupting.
