Feral & community cats

How drop-off works

We usually accept ten community cats a day, Monday through Thursday, from 7:00 am to 9:30 am, first come first served. Pick-up is the same day between 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm, and we close at 6:00 pm.

Call or text us the day before you plan to trap so we can add you to the trapper list. This is not a scheduled appointment — trapping is never guaranteed, and on rare occasions we may have to decline a cat. Please have a backup plan in place.

Trap and eligibility requirements

• The cat must be unowned and returned to where it was trapped
• A humane live trap only — never a carrier
• Minimum trap size of 8.5" W x 12" H x 18" L
• Trap must be fully functional and lined with newspaper or cardboard
• Trap must be covered with a towel or sheet
• Left ear tip and a rabies vaccine are required

Owned feral cats

If you own a feral or barn cat, you can still use a community cat slot — we understand you may not be able to guarantee catching the cat for a scheduled appointment. The cat must still arrive in a live trap.

Vouchers and outside resources

We accept spay/neuter vouchers from Best Friends Animal Society. They also loan traps, offer help resolving neighborhood cat issues, provide winter shelters, and run a pet food pantry for qualifying residents. Email UtahTNR@bestfriends.org or visit their TNR resources page to learn more.
